App privacy

For the Norwegian Saga app · Last updated 3 August 2026

The short version. The app keeps your email, the stars you put on sentences, and the sentences you save into your own sagas. That is essentially it. There are no adverts, no analytics, and nothing that follows you around the internet. You can delete the whole lot from inside the app.

1. Who has your data

Norwegian Saga, run by Even Svendsen, Hestestien 7, 1555 Son, Norway. Email hello@norwegiansaga.no.

This policy covers the app at app.norwegiansaga.no, and the phone apps when they arrive. The website and private lessons are covered separately in the main privacy policy.

2. What the app stores

Using the app needs a free account, so your progress can follow you between devices rather than living on one of them. The recordings are fetched from our storage as you play them. If you switch on English read aloud, your device's own voice does the reading; some browsers use an online voice for that, which is between you and your browser.

What the app deliberately does not do. No advertising. No analytics or tracking software. No third-party SDKs watching what you tap. It does not ask for your contacts, your location, your camera or your microphone. It does not read anything else on your phone.

3. Who else sees it

We never sell your data and never share it for anyone else's marketing.

One supplier handles it on our behalf: Supabase, which provides the database and the sign-in system. They store what section 2 lists, on our instructions, under a data processing agreement. Where servers sit outside Europe, the transfer is covered by the standard legal protections the EU requires.

If you buy App Pro, the payment is taken by Stripe. You give your card details to Stripe, not to us — we never see them. Stripe tells us which account paid, the email on the payment, and until when Pro runs, and we keep that for as long as the accounting rules require.

We would also hand data over if the law required it, or to defend a legal claim.

4. The leaderboard

The leaderboard shows learners ranked by points. Other people see a username and a number — never your email address and never your real name, unless you choose a username that is your name.

You get a generated username like learner_41624 when you sign up, and you can change it on the Account screen. Your points are worked out on your own device from the stars you have given, and sent up so the board can be ordered.

If you would rather not appear at all, email us and we will take you off it. Nothing else in the app stops working.

5. How long we keep it

WhatHow long
Everything tied to your accountUntil you delete the account
After you delete the accountGone immediately — see section 6
Anything stored only on your deviceUntil you log out, clear the browser's site data, or delete the app

We do not keep a shadow copy of a deleted account. Backups taken before the deletion roll out of the cycle within 30 days.

6. Deleting it, and your other rights

To delete everything: open the app, go to Account, scroll down and tap Delete account. It removes your sign-in, your stars, your saved sentences and your place on the leaderboard. It cannot be undone and we cannot get it back for you.

You can also ask us to:

  • Show you everything we hold about you
  • Correct anything wrong
  • Send you a copy you can take elsewhere
  • Stop using it, or pause while a disagreement is sorted out
  • Withdraw your consent to the newsletter, any time

Email hello@norwegiansaga.no. It is free and we answer within 30 days.

7. Children

The app is built for adults and older teenagers. We do not knowingly collect anything from a child under 13. If you believe we have, tell us and it will be deleted.

8. Changes, and complaints

If we change what the app collects, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. Anything that materially affects you will also arrive as a message in the app.

Unhappy about something? Tell us first — hello@norwegiansaga.no. You can also complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority, Datatilsynet (Postboks 458 Sentrum, 0105 Oslo), or to the equivalent authority where you live.
